Accredited verification bodies are increasingly in demand as regulators around the world require air operators to monitor, report, and verify greenhouse gas emissions from international flights. In Canada, the Canadian Aviation Regulations for CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) took effect in January 2019.
The Standards Council Canada (SCC) has been working together with Transport Canada, and through the UN International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) so that Canada can continue to be a world leader in minimizing emissions from international air travel.
SCC is leading the way by providing expertise and helping to shape the program. As Canada’s leading accreditation body, we can accredit Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs) based in Canada or abroad and can conduct assessments in either English or French for this international initiative.
Here at SCC, we are the only accreditation body in Canada offering internationally recognized accreditation in accordance with ISO 14065. VVBs from around the world seek SCC accreditation as proof that their work is in line with the most current national and international standards and regulations. SCC offers various training programs; including a free introductory CORSIA course available online.
